highways jammed with cars. good evening, i'm cheryl jennings. >> and i'm dan ashley. once again, we're on storm watch, more rain is coming. we are live covering the weather for us tonight. let's start with you, john. a rough day for you and many others. >> tough getting up here, everybody is testing out snow boards and skis. there is an avalanche risk here because of the series of storms we've had that have dumped snow and rain and then, heavy snow now has been landing on the weaker layers of snow underneath. that has been creating danger. in fact on monday, a snowboarder was killed during an avalanche at donner ski ranch. the body discovered under two to three feet of snow. also on monday an experienced member of the ski patrol was killed in alpine meadows. that, however, was intentionally triggered by an explosive charge designed to alleviate the avalanche danger there. and over the weekend, two skiers were injured during an avalanche at squaw valley to. give you an idea of the power of an avalanche we have individual yof a controlled avalanche taking place in british columbia. a
